When expressing positive feedback:
Be sincere, not manipulative
Be specific to provide meaning
Be brief for the sake of clarity
Be quiet when youâre finished to allow the recipient to accept it
As we mentioned in another book in this series, Lead!, there are six levels of positive feedback, which we sometimes call praise. Praise is a âpolite expression of admiration.â Positive feedback lets someone know what they are doing rightâthose things we want to ensure that they keep doingâeven as they change other behaviors. Praise and feedback help your followers grow and flourish, as long as they perceive it as being sincere and specific to them.
The six levels range from giving feedback about things that are impersonal to those that are very personal.
